OLIVER LYMINGTON
CHURCH WARDEN, ST ANDREWS, FARLEIGH WALLOP
For most of my life, I have lived in Farleigh Wallop and grew up attending Church at St Andrew’s. I have fond memories of Sunday School at The Rectory in Ellisfield. My family has a deep connection with St Andrew’s and the land around it, with many of my forebears buried there.
We love attending the services that occur at St. Andrew’s: when there is a fifth Sunday in the month, plus a fellowship service in the summer and our Christmas Eve Carols. The Church itself is lovely, standing as it does in “splendid isolation”, yet connected to the settlements of Broadmere and the hamlet of Farleigh Wallop itself. The Christmas Carol service is a particularly special event that draws worshippers from relatively far and wide – it truly feels like the start of Christmas.
Professionally, I am the present custodian of the Estate at Farleigh Wallop and I derive particular interest in and enjoyment from the farming, forestry and property development activities.
I was elected as Church Warden in 2020 and am on the Parochial Church Council for the Parish of Farleigh. As the Chairman of the Farleigh Wallop Parish Meeting, I am also a trustee of the Cliddesden and Farleigh Wallop Educational Trust.
Outside of work, I enjoy, among other things: spending time with my family, running, cycling, reading and machinery of all sorts
