Dear friends,
Here we are again, two weeks into the latest lockdown. But take heart, things are never as bad as the media portray them – for we have eyes on a higher destiny, an eternal hope that cannot be destroyed. I was reflecting on the trials our parents and grandparents went through in the 20th century, the two World Wars, the Great Depression, and sometimes we think we are hard done by in this generation – last Sunday was Remembrance Sunday, and of course it was preceded by “Remember, remember the fifth of November, gunpowder, treason and plot” – the 1605 attempt by Catholic conspirators to rid the country of the Protestant King and Parliament – we do well to remember the lessons of history and rise above these times for there is a God who loves and in whom we can trust implicitly.

Prayer resources are available – the Prayer Diary has been uploaded to the Benefice website, so do make use of it in your own private devotions daily – personal daily prayer and using the scriptures to help us pray will increase our faith and knowledge of God’s love.
Christmas may only be about 6 weeks away but we do not yet know what we will be able to do; we have been putting together some ideas and as soon as we hear, we will get information out to everyone.
