Dear friends,

In the Christian calendar we are between celebrating the Ascension of Jesus back to His Father in heaven and Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the first disciples at what is the Jewish Festival of first fruits – the time when the first fruits of the harvest were picked as they were ripe, and offerings of these, fresh from the fields, were brought to the temple with praise and thanksgiving for God granting the right weather and soil conditions for the crops to grow. Some of the farming community today may well be asking why we are having so many issues with the current climate with rain being either too much, too little, too early or too late: is God speaking to us through the climactic conditions and telling us something we need to hear? That will be the subject of a sermon or two one day!

On Thursday 13th May we started the “Thy Kingdom Come “ Prayer Initiative, when Christians from around the world have been praying together, in groups, on Zoom, and all sorts of other ways, for God’s Kingdom to become more obvious and manifest through us being filled again and again with Jesus’ presence by His Holy Spirit, for our worship on Sundays and at other times to be transformed and for others to know Jesus Christ for themselves. We are continuing to meet to pray during this coming week, so please do join us at any one of the following opportunities to pray:

Sunday 23 May Pentecost – prayer in services

Services tomorrow all as normal, and no need to remind anyone of the protocols – God willing it will not be long before all is back to relative normality.

We will issue one more letter next week and then we shall revert to relying on Parish Magazines “Hill and Dale,”  “Oxdrove” and the website to provide up to date information. We are approaching the wedding season so please do pray for all those getting married this year that they will be much blessed.

Any urgent pastoral needs, so get in touch with David or Stephen - we are available on the phone, email, Zoom and in person at a social distance.

Every blessing,

David and Stephen
