Messy Church - Cliddesden

Messy Church

We launched Messy Church in September 2013 for people who would like to engage with the Christian faith in a more interactive way than in a Sunday service. Many churches across the country have a “Messy Church” component to their worship styles, and folk of all ages are welcome to be part of our monthly Messy Church at Cliddesden Millennium Village Hall (CVMH).

We have craft activities from 4.30 to 5.10 on a common theme, with about four activities – we have included in the past making and decorating biscuits, painting pottery for later firing, colouring pictures of characters in a Bible story, making candle holders, painting glass jam jars to hold candles, chemical experiments, as well as making Christingles for the annual Christingle service.

At 5.10 we gather together, pray, sing and worship, have a bible story of some sort, then we eat together at about 5.35 – ranging from lasagne to pizza, ice cream to biscuits we have made, and we finish at 6.00 p.m.

We meet nine times a year – usually on the fourth Sundays of January to June, and September to November, leaving out July, August and December.

We invite donations to cover our costs, but our messy church is free, as are the crafts we make.
